OCTOBER 30, 1999
WEST TENNESSEE ACADEMIC LIBRARY CONSORTIUM
Fall Directors Meeting
Oct. 30, 1999
Location: McWherter Library
University of Memphis
Present : Steve Baker, Tom Singarella, Scott Cohen, Annelle Huggins, Connie White,
Shirley Hudson, Bob Lhota, Hope Shull, Mary Roby, Harold Kelly, Steve Rogers.
Discussion regarding consortium purchasing of databases:
- TENN-SHARE will be presenting new initiatives through the Collection
Development committee. They will be conducting a survey of needs
throughout the membership.
- TALC is trying to work through Solinet because no one else was willing
to be the host site for the entire group. (TALC is only UT and TBR
libraries, but they are looking toward trying to open to the private
institutions.) Annelle stated that Univ. of Memphis is not interested
in consortial purchasing with WeTALC because they have several other avenues.
- Lexis-Nexis is available through Solinet to Solinet members for $1.45
per FTE. Contact Amy Crawford at Solinet.
- Annelle suggested subscribing to the Solinet listserv for more current
information on all their consortium purchasing possibilities, or go to the
Solinet website.
- Check with Linda Phillips and Scott Maynard (Bell & Howell Sale Rep.)
about ABI Inform for Academic pricing through TENN-SHARE.
WeTALC webpage: Jennifer Gregory from JSCC will maintain the webpage. Send
her all updated information. Email address:

Hope will write letter of request to TLA president, Chuck Sherrill, regarding
affiliate membership for WeTALC. The TLA Board meets the second Saturday in November.
